Getting Around Kuala Lumpur

Bus
In Kuala Lumpur, there are a number of different buses that you could take to get around. The Rapid KL system is owned by the government, and is the main provider of bus transportation in the city. There is a bus hub in the middle of the city, where you can get connected to buses that will take you to anywhere in the city. Metrobus and Triton are two other big companies that operate bus lines and Kuala Lumpur.

Rail
In Kuala Lumpur, there are a number of different rail options that you can use to get around the city. This option is typically the most affordable, and it can get you across the city very quickly. You can use the monorail, the Light Rail Transit system, an airport rail system, and two commuter trains. They have a lot of different rail options for you to choose from, depending on where you are traveling to in the area. The Downside to using this type of transportation is that you may have to do a little bit of walking after you get off of the rail at one of the stops.

Taxis
If you need a more direct means of transportation from point A to point B, a taxi is one option to look at. In Kuala Lumpur, there are many taxi lines that you could travel on. You can usually find one on the street to hail, or you could call one of the local taxi companies to get one to pick you up. This option is typically low bit more expensive than riding the train or the bus, but it does give you more personalized service.

Rickshaw
In Kuala Lumpur, you can still find a few rickshaw drivers here and there. When you take a rickshaw, it gives you an opportunity to travel like many people did in the past in this area. This is a great way to do a little bit of sightseeing if you are walking in the city. Instead of having to walk, you can ride in a cart that is powered by a driver.

Rental Car
If you plan on being in the area for a few days, you may want to rent a car. When you fly into the Kuala Lumpur airport, you can rent a car directly from one of the agencies there. There are also rental places throughout the city to use.
